Once Ceremonies
Rituals
We can create a ritual out of anything. Having something that has personal meaning to you makes the best ritual.
Why have a ritual?
Apart from adding to the theatre of the ceremony, they act as a reminder of the commitment you are making to each other and can even be used as an olive branch when you have a disagreement.
Here are a few ideas:
-
Handfasting – tying the knot
-
Hand moulding
-
Sand ritual – consider the meaning of the colours you use
-
Bread breaking
-
Candle lighting – this can involve parents or wedding party members at the beginning of the ceremony and end with you as a couple
-
Broom jumping
-
Chocolate rituals – rehearsals are a must for this one!
-
Cocktail mixing – and this one.
-
Flowers
-
Crystals or stones
-
Painting – lovely for uniting two families
-
Time capsule
-
Tree planting
It's all up to you.
Your guests can be involved in the ritual if you choose. There is no right or wrong way to perform a ritual. It can be as unique as you are, so we can be very creative. Likewise, it can be a simple gesture that is shared between you and witnessed by your guests.
